I need more hours in the day.........

I am so sorry that I am behind on my blog posts. We have had the craziest few days at work and then tons to do at home and orders to finish. I will get back to my regular blogging next week starting with my "Monday's Featured Artist". You will absolutely love who I have in line for that.

Getting over the Thursday hump

Hi, well I had tons of traffic to my site last week when I was doing the giveaway. That was incredible. I was sort of hopping that it would give me a few new regular readers. I think I will now have two regular weekly things that I do on my blog. One will be the "Monday's Featured Artist". The second will be two giveaways per month.

I am looking for people for my featured artist section so if any of you are interested in promoting your shop or website please leave a comment with your email addy and I will send you the questionnaire.

I would also like some help with what to give away next. You guys look through the shop and see if there is something there that will made a great giveaway.

I kinda stumbled upon something or someone today that could end up bringing a lot of publicity my way. I was at our local drug store (it has a fountain) getting something to eat and there was the lady that merchandises and buys for the store. She was rearranging some of the jewelry pieces and what not. I told her about my jewelry and I just so happened to have a few pieces in the car along with my card. She was very impressed by my work and wanted to know if I would be interested in setting up a display in her store as a "Featured Local Artist". Of course I would!!!!!!! She also wanted me to think about setting whole sale prices for some pieces and letting her check them out for the drugstore. I am so excited, I have really been working much harder on my etsy store lately and it sorta looks like things may fall into place after all. Wish me luck!!!!

I can't really blog without a picture now can I, most of you know that I work at a veterinary office. On occasion I have the opportunity to raise a baby of some sort. This was our last venture. She came to us just a few days old and we fed her and cleaned her and named her Zoe. She was released into our back yard about two months ago. Every once in a while we think we may see her. I hope it is her!!!!

Featured Artist Questionnaire 

Tell us a bit about yourself, name, location, affiliations, and personal stuff.

I am UberArt, aka Beth, living in Eastern NC.  I am married, mom to a toddler and a very rambunctious Greyhound mix dog. 

Apart from creating things, what do you do?

I’ve been an Art Therapist and have also worked most recently in the corporate world, but am a stay at home mom now. 

How did you first get started creating things?

I was born with a crayon in one hand and a paintbrush in the other!  I’ve been creating since I was little.  My family knew it was my destiny to become an artist.

I have to be in the right frame of mind to create.  I can’t make it happen, it just comes.  When it does, I pounce on it and make things until they’re coming out of my ears.  Then I have a dry spell for a week or two.  I like to shift materials also, working with bookbinding one week and polymer clay the next.  Most recently I’ve been taking a pottery class.  I have nothing decent to show for myself just yet! 

What handmade possession do you most cherish?

I cherish a pink stuffed cat my mother made for me when I was six years old.  She gave me the pattern and I made one for my son, who loves his “Kitty” more than I loved mine!  Kitty has had numerous visits to the hospital and is due for surgery on his ear quite soon. 

Name your top five books, movies, songs/musical groups, and web sites besides Etsy.

Favorite book- Watership Down

What advice would you give to artists who are new to Etsy?

Hang in there and promote like crazy!  It takes time to build up a customer base.  And join a team.  They can help support and promote you as well. 

How do you promote your work?

I have a blog, website, myspace, flickr and picturetrail pages.  I also pop into the forums on Etsy periodically.  I also consign my journals at a local art gallery.

What are your favorite features on Etsy or the ACE team? What new features would you like to see on either site?

I enjoy the treasuries on Etsy.  It’s a lot of fun getting treasuries to promote team members, as well as being featured in their treasuries also. 

In ten years I would like to be?
